Position Summary

Hamilton ETFs is seeking a Database Engineer to design and manage the core relational database architecture that forms the foundation of its shared platform, supporting advisor intelligence, CRM, marketing, compliance, and reporting applications. This is a new, full-time permanent position based 100% onsite at 121 King Street West in downtown Toronto.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage the core relational database architecture for the shared platform foundation.
• Architect scalable data models supporting advisor intelligence, CRM, marketing, compliance, and reporting applications.
• Optimize database performance through indexing, partitioning, query optimization, replication, and high availability.
• Establish data governance with role-based access control, audit logging, encryption, and retention policies.
• Support secure ingestion and normalization of large financial datasets.
• Design structures supporting machine-learning features such as lead scoring and anomaly detection.
• Collaborate with full-stack developers on API-ready patterns and stored procedures.
• Manage data flows into HubSpot as the commercial source of truth.
• Design future infrastructure, including data warehouse and vector database components.
• Document standards, naming conventions, and security controls.

 

Minimum Requirements

• Post-secondary diploma in computer science or a related field (Master’s degree an asset).
• 5+ years designing and supporting relational databases in engineering or developer roles.
• Strong PostgreSQL expertise in performance tuning and schema design.
• SaaS, CRM, or financial services database experience.
• Knowledge of data privacy, encryption, and disaster recovery.
• ETL/ELT pipeline experience with large structured datasets.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• PostgreSQL at scale (partitioning, replication, materialized views).
• Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Vector database familiarity.
• Experience supporting ML workflows and semantic search.
• Financial services or regulated-environment background.
• Knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, and related compliance.
• Event-driven architecture experience.
