Job Description
The Alternative Investment Analyst is responsible for supporting and enhancing Fidelity Canada’s retail lineup of mutual funds and solutions. Reporting to the Director, Alternatives, the Analyst provides critical support for Fidelity Canada’s new product development initiatives, delivers strategic, competitor and industry analysis to inform product strategy, and is responsible for championing the alternatives segment of Fidelity’s retail products, solutions, and tools to drive the firm’s marketing and sales efforts.
You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement. Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.
Job Responsibilities
What Will You Do
Product Development
- Identify compelling product ideas that meet the standards of Fidelity and meet the needs of our customers
- Develop product positioning, competitive benchmarking / analysis and identify key factors that will influence sales success in order to build a successful business case for new products and solutions
- Collaborate with external resources and internal partners throughout Fidelity in order to bring new products and solution to market
- Own product development projects from idea to delivery
Product Management
- Ensure that assigned products and solutions are optimally positioned for success
- Demonstrate a high level of product, market, and competitive investment category expertise
- Develop a deep understanding of the drivers of success within assigned product segment and articulate these effectively to management
- Develop and be able to articulate a well-supported view of the future of the category or asset class
Marketing and Sales Support
- Collaborate with Marketing, Sales and other internal partners in the development of all promotional materials (e.g. marketing collateral, digital, advertising, etc.) for new and existing products and solutions
- Ensure that assigned products and solutions are supported with strong baseline collateral that clearly and accurately reflects the investment merits of each offering
- Develop and deliver proactive investment marketing and asset retention ideas to support the firm’s sales efforts
- Anticipate Marketing and Sales team needs and deliver proactive solutions
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3 years mutual fund/investment industry experience with prior experience in investment analysis / modelling
- Prior experience in financial services sales and/or marketing is an asset
- University degree or equivalent work experience
- Designations such as an MBA/CFA is an asset
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC) along with relevant industry accreditations are also an asset

- Exceptional analytical ability
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Proven experience performing complex data analysis (i.e. sales, performance analysis, etc.)
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
